Football Falls Short to AMCATS
PAXTON, MA: The Fitchburg State football team fell to the AMCATS of Anna Maria College in MASCAC action this afternoon, 30-22.
THE BASICS:

- Records: AMC (5-2, 5-1 MASCAC), Fitchburg (3-4, 2-4 MASCAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The AMCATS scored the first 15 points of the game on a safety and two touchdowns. After the safety put them up 2-0, the AMCATS scored their first touchdown in the second quarter on an eight-yard reception from Tyler Garretson from Nikolay Boyce. That score was followed by Boyce running one in from two yards out. The first half would come to a close with the Falcons getting on the board. Jonah Costa (E. Providence, RI) would deliver on a 32-yard field goal to make it a 15-3 game going into the break.
- The second half would start with another AMCAT score, this time it was Anthony Phillip who made the catch from Boyce. After a successful two-point conversion by Boyce, the score was 23-3. Fitchburg scored on a Jan Valls (Worcester, MA) pick-six from 20 yards out.
- The fourth quarter began with Anna Maria scoring their last points of the game. Jeremiah Cadet plunged into the end zone from four yards out to make it 30-10. The Falcons then scored two more touchdowns to close out the game. Sahir Gomez (Whittier, CA) caught a 19-yard pass from freshman quarterback Colby Catterton (Shirley, MA). The game ended with one more Falcons score with 3:36 remaining, as Oriowokite Fatoke (Worcester, MA) finished a seven-play, 83-yard drive with a one-yard rushing touchdown.
- Defensively, the Falcons were led by Valls with 11 tackles and his pick-six. Anna Maria was topped by Mar-Zhon Brinson, who had nine tackles.
