Fitchburg, MA - The Fitchburg State ice hockey team suffered a tough 3-2 setback to the Beacons of UMass Boston this evening in non-conference action from the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the scoring at 13:56 mark of the first period as freshman Devin Niles (Hatfield, MA) gathered a feed from junior Andrew Woloszyn (Windham, NH) and junior Declan Bronte (Werribee, BC) and fired a shot into the back of net for his second tally of the season for the 1-0 edge.

UMass Boston knotted the score at 1-1 four minutes later when senior Dylan Robbins (New York, NY) deposited a shot inside the near post for his first marker of the 2025-26 campaign with assists from senior Jazz Krivtov (Baldwin, NY) and senior Jude Kurtas (Hillsborough, NJ)).

In the middle stanza, the Beacons grabbed the lead 22 seconds into the frame with sophomore Colin Richard (Foxborough, MA) finding the back of the net for his first goal on the season with assists from sophomore Michael Lynch (Stoneham, MA) and sophomore Alex Keller (Bridgeville, PA) to make the score 2-1.

The visitors pushed the lead to 3-1 with six minutes remaining the period as freshman Rhett Kodsi (Boca Raton, FL) settled a pass from newcomer Alex Koenig (Manhattan, CA) and Krivtsov for his first collegiate tally. The Falcons cut the deficit to 3-2 three minutes later when junior Kristopher Zapata (Cherry Hill, NJ) connected for his first marker on the year with assists from senior Trenton Skaggs (Oconomowoc, WI) and freshman Nathan Dann (Trail, BC).
