Baseball Swept by Rams in MASCAC Action
FRAMINGHAM, MA: The Fitchburg State baseball team dropped a pair of games to the Rams of Framingham State this afternoon in MASCAC action.
THE BASICS:
- Date: 5/2/25
- Score: Framingham 14, Fitchburg 2 GM1. Framingham 10, Fitchburg 5 GM2.
- Records: Framingham (13-25, 8-12 MASCAC), Fitchburg (12-21, 6-14 MASCAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED: Game One
- The Falcons scored first in the top of the 4th on an RBI double to left field of the bat of Liam Goldstein (Charlestown, RI).
- The Rams would respond with a big inning in the bottom of the 4th with eight runs. After the Rams worked the bases loaded, Lucas Basile would step up and hit a grand slam to give them a 4-1 lead. Rosco Palmer would then step up and send another one out for a solo shot. Framingham would then deliver another home run, this time a two-run shot by Steve Burbank.
- Framingham would have another big inning in the bottom of the fifth, this time plating five. Basile would start it up with a two-run single to right field. Christian Cox would then hit the Rams' fourth home run, which would bring in another two. The 5th would conclude with Burbank's second and the team's fifth home run, making it a 13-1 game.
- Goldstein would deliver another big hit, bringing in the Falcons' second and final run of the game. This time it came on a single to left field.
- The final run of the game belonged to the Rams and was a solo home run by Daniel Robichaud.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Cam Prescott earned the win (3-4) after going 6 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, and 5 strikeouts.
- Demetrius Sampalis (North Scituate, RI) suffered the loss (1-3) after going 3.1 innings, allowing 7 hits, 6 earned runs, and 1 strikeout.
- Hits: Framingham 18, Fitchburg 8
HOW IT HAPPENED: Game Two
- The Rams picked up where they left off in game one, quickly scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Jeancarlos Espinal highlighted the inning with an RBI double to center field. The Falcons would cut the 3-0 lead to just one on a two-run blast by Adam Koza (Winham, NH).
- Framingham would extend their lead up to 5-2 in the top of the fifth inning off of a two-run triple by Dane Frellick. Fitchburg would make it a one-run game again in the bottom of the sixth inning after Maxwell Kelly (E. Bridgewater, MA) brought in two on a double down the left field line.
- The top of the seventh saw the biggest inning for the Rams, as they brought in five, bringing the game to 10-4 score. John Lynch highlighted that inning with a two RBI single to center field. The Falcons would get one back to end the game on a Jacob Hurrell (Haverhill, MA).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Joshua Sunderland got the win (1-6) after going 5 innings, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, and walking 3.
- Joseph Stawski (Niantic, CT) suffered the loss (1-4) after going 5 innings, allowing 8 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts.
