Men’s Soccer Bested by Bison

FITCHBURG, MA: The Fitchburg State men’s soccer team was defeated by the Bison of Nichols College this afternoon in non-conference play, 3-1.

FITCHBURG, MA: The Fitchburg State men's soccer team was defeated by the Bison of Nichols College this afternoon in non-conference play, 3-1.

THE BASICS:

- Records: Nichols (2-5-3), Fitchburg (2-7-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Falcons scored first, just 1:37 into the game. Rick Da Moura (Boston, MA) scored his second goal of the season after receiving a pass from Michael Vazquez (Worcester, MA). Fitchburg maintained a 1-0 lead into the 35th minute of the first half. The Bison tied the game at 35:55 on an Ayden Gardner goal from Lukas Salvador.

- Nichols took the lead just over ten minutes into the second half. Alexandro Montreuil scored the game-winning goal in the 55th minute after Parker Zynda found him open for the score. Kamal Saad added an insurance goal in the 81st minute, securing the victory for the Bison.

- Derek Axon earned the win (2-2-1) in net for Nichols. During the game, he faced six shots on goal and made five saves. Malcolm Edwards (Salem, MA) was charged with the loss (0-5-1). He faced eight shots on goal and made five saves.
