Women's Outdoor Track Opens 2025 Campaign At J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic
Scott paces Green & Gold with fourth place effort in the triple jump
Middletown, CT. – The Fitchburg State University Women's Outdoor Track & Field team opened their 2025 campaign today, competing at the 2025 J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic, hosted by Wesleyan University at the Andersen Track.

How It Happened
The 4x100 meter relay team of freshman Maribelis Alcantara (Salem, MA), classmate Arieyana Robinson (Worcester, MA), junior Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA) and junior Trishannah Scott (Leominster, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, finishing fourth overall with a time of 53.57, while Scott added a fourth place mark of 10.65 meters in the triple jump.
In the 1500 meter, senior Skye Goba (Norton, MA) placed 21st overall with a time of 5:16.98, while junior Aria DiCato (Fitchburg, MA) turned in a 15th place time of 18.51 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles.
Freshman Christina Apolon (Brooklyn, NY) finished 28th overall in the 400 meter with a time of 1:20.36, while in the 100 meter dash, Robinson (16th) and Alcantara (27th) posted times of 13.84 and 14.35 seconds.
In the 400 meter hurdles, DiCato posted a 15th place time of 1:17.47, while in the 200 meter, Scott (28.42), Robinson (29.44) and Apolon (33.70) finished 22nd, 46th and 61st respectively.
In the field, sophomore Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) (13th) freshman Sophia Hepler (Orono, ME) (20th) and senior Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) (21st) registered tosses of 34.70M, 26.54M and 26.22M in the hammer throw, while in the shot put, Crout (9.45M), Israelson (9.08M), Hepler (8.49M) and sophomore Joey Schmidt-Gross (Sudbury, MA) (6.38M) placed 12th, 18th, 19th and 32nd respectively.
In the long jump, Velez (9th) and Alcantara (24th) posted marks of 4.89 meters and 3.80 meters, while Hepler (12th), senior Sophia Salamone (Falmouth (ME) (15th) and Israelson (20th) recorded throws of 29.77, 27.77 and 21.73 meters in the discus. In the javelin, Hepler (33.78M), Salamone (25.02M) and Alcantara (16.60M) finished sixth, 15th and 27th respectively.
