Women's Outdoor Track Shines At Jim Sheehan Invitational On Senior Day
Hepler qualifies for DIII NE's in the javelin
Fitchburg, MA. – The Fitchburg State University Women's Outdoor Track & Field team hosted its annual Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational today at Elliot Field as the Falcons honored their seniors prior to the start of the meet with the lone senior being Aria DiCato for her contributions to the program.

How It Happened
Freshman Sophia Hepler (Orono, ME) led the way for the Falcons, placing second in the javelin with a DIII New England qualifying toss of 35.07 meters, while finishing ninth in the discus, 24th in the hammer throw and 17th in the shot put with tosses of 27.10 meters, 22.00 meters and 7.42 meters, while junior Skye Goba (Norton, MA) finished second in the 1500 meter with a time of 5:13.64 as well as taking top honors in the 5000 meter with a time of 19:42.98.
Junior Trishannah Scott (Leominster, MA) was also solid for the Green and Gold, placing second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.64 meters and second overall in the 200 meter with a time of 28.34 seconds.
The 4x100 meter relay team of freshman Maribelis Alcantara (Salem, MA), junior Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA), newcomer Arieyana Robinson (Worcester, MA) and Scott placed fifth overall with a time of 53.70 seconds, while in the 100 meter, Robinson (9th) and Alcantara (11th) posted times of 13.85 seconds and 14.20 seconds.
In the 400 meter hurdles, senior Aria DiCato (Fitchburg, MA) turned in a sixth place time of 1:16.07, while Robinson (29.79) and sophomore Christina Apolon (Brooklyn, NY) (31.82) finished seventh and 16th overall in the 200 meter.
In the field, senior Sophia Salamone (Falmouth, ME) (6th) and sophomore Taylor Crout (Boise. ID) (7th) tosses of 27.50M and 27.32M in the discus, while Salamone (21.51M), junior Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) (19.31M) and Alcantara (17.31M) placed 19th, 24th and 26th in the javelin.
In the hammer throw, Israelson (27.68M) and sophomore Joey Schmidt-Gross (Sudbury, MA) (16.14M) placed 14th and 27th, while Crout and Israelson finished fourth and fifth in shot put with throws of 9.11 meters and 9.05 meters.
Rounding out the top Falcon efforts on the day was Velez, who placed ninth overall in the long jump with a mark of 4.45 meters.
