Men's Outdoor Track Opens 2025 Campaign At J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic
Bourassa takes top honors in the javelin with All-NE qualifying toss of 60.74M
Middletown, CT. – The Fitchburg State University Men's Outdoor Track & Field team opened their 2025 campaign today as they competed at the 2025 J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic, hosted by Wesleyan University at the Andersen Track.

Junior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) paced the Green and Gold, taking top honors in the javelin with an All-New England qualifying throw of 60.74 meters, while placing second in the hammer throw, fourth in the discus and second in the shot put with a DIII New England qualifying tosses of 49.96 meters, 44.34 meters and 14.96 meters,
In the 1500 meter, freshman Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) (20th), senior Taban Manyok (Lynn, MA) (22nd), junior Joshua Lancaster (Hadley, MA) (38th), newcomer Brendan Guenard (Andover, MA) (41st) and senior Joshua Leaffer (North Andover, MA) (46th) posted times of 4:18.02, 4:19.23, 4:33.64, 4:41.50 and 5:15.53 respectively, while newcomer Patrick Shaughnessy (Plymouth, MA) (17.03), classmate Joseph Imbracsio (North Billerica, MA) (19.14) and freshman William McGurl (Billerica, MA) (19.67) placed 11th, 17th and 19th in the 110 meter hurdles.
In the 400 meter, Ansah and sophomore Alvaro Castillo-Clottier Jr (Palmer, MA) finished fifth and 11th overall with times of 51.08 seconds and 52.97 seconds, while in the 100 meter dash, sophomore Jaiden Madden (Lynn, MA), newcomer Logan Cashman (Carmel, NY) and senior Robert Williams (Lynn, MA) placed 15th, 51st and 54th overall with times of 11.52, 13.10 and 14.22 seconds.
In the 800 meter, Guenard (6th), junior Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) (9th), sophomore Omar Elmi (Worcester, MA) (14th) and Leaffer (16th) turned in times of 2:06.59, 2:08.57, 2:20.73 and 2:31.29, while sophomore Jesse Moriello (Plymouth, MA) (1:04.96), Shaughnessy (1:05.02), sophomore Matthew Gill (Ayer, MA) (1:09.26) and Imbracsio (1:20.94) placed 12th, 13th, 17th and 20th in the 400 meter hurdles.
Castillo-Clottier Jr (40th), Madden (42nd) and Cashman (68th) posted times of 24.01, 24.02 and 28.13 seconds in the 200 meter, while in the 5000 meter, Manyok (16:16.37), junior Michael Burns (Worcester, MA) (16:36.75) and Edwards (16:38.30) placed eighth, 11th and 12th overall.
The 4x100 meter relay team of sophomore Keenan Ansah (Plymouth, MA), Castillo Clottier Jr, Moriello and sophomore Derrick Tawiah (Worcester, MA) turned a fourth place time of 45.37 seconds, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Moriello, Castillo Clottier Jr, Tawiah and Manyok finished fifth with a time of 3:49.69.
In the field, senior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) (12th) and sophomore John Koutsouoa (Birdsboro, PA) (24th) registered tosses of 40.24 meters and 26.96 meters in the hammer throw, while in the shot put, Monette (12.68M) and Koutsouoa (12.27M) placed ninth and 12th respectively.
In the Discus, Monette and Koutsouoa finished 23rd and 34th with throws of 31.63 meters and 24.97 meters, while sophomore Tyler Kwamo (Auburn, MA) turned in a second place effort of 1.80 meters in the high jump
Ansah and freshman Christopher Adamchek (Carlisle, MA) placed 14th and 18th overall in the long jump with marks of 6.09M and 5.09 meters, while in the triple jump, Kwamo (12.55M) and Adamchek (12.15M) finished fourth and seventh in the event. Sophomore Colin Anderson (Weymouth, MA) rounded out the top Falcon efforts, finishing 20th in javelin with a toss of 356.80 meters.
