Women's Volleyball Falls To Bears On Senior Day
Griffiths sets program record for career solo blocks
Fitchburg, MA: The Fitchburg State Women's Volleyball team dropped a 3-0, straight set decision to the Bears of Bridgewater State this morning in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Parkinson Gymnasium on senior day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Fitchburg State's offense was led by senior Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, MA) with a team-leading six kills and eight digs, while junior setter Mia Vestal (Wilmington, MA) chipped in with a team-best 11 assists and two digs. Defensively, senior Sydney Nortelus (Cambridge, MA) finished with a team-leading 15 digs and one kill.
- For the Bears, junior Lily Welch (Hanson,MA) registered a match-best 15 kills, two assists, three service aces, 11 digs and one blocking assist, while junior Xin Ai Robinson (Kaiserslautern, Germany) added a match-best 25 assists, three service aces and two digs. On the defensive end, junior Ava Crane (Dartmouth, MA) registered 20 digs, six kills, six service aces and one blocking assist.
Prior to the contest, the Fitchburg State Women's Volleyball team honored four seniors playing in their final season with the seniors being #1 Stephanie Sardella, #2 Gabrielle Griffiths, #5 Abigail DeAngelis and #7 Sydney Nortelus.
