Fitchburg, MA. – The Fitchburg State field hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to the Owls of Westfield State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Elliot Field this afternoon.

How It Happened
Westfield State opened the scoring at the 10:11 mark as senior Kaleigh Murphy (Pembroke, MA) deposited a shot into the right side of cage for her 11th marker on the season for the 1-0 edge. The Owls doubled its advantage in the 19th minute when senior Maddy Berry (Norwood, MA) converted a penalty stroke for her second tally on the season for the 2-0 lead going into the break.
Following the intermission, Westfield State upped the lead to 3-0 at the 43:37 mark with senior Erin Murphy (Auburn, MA) firing a shot into the left side of the cage for her third tally of the 2025-26 campaign.
The Owls secured the victory with 13 minutes remaining in regulation when junior Ashley E'Elia (Watertown, CT) found the back of the for her third marker of the season, resulting in the 4-0 final.
