Women's Lacrosse Flown Past by Owls
FITCHBURG, MA: The Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team fell to the Owls of Westfield State this evening in conference action, 19-7.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first quarter saw the game go into the Owls' favor, 5-2. Natalie DeMaio had three of the Owls' five goals in the quarter, with Shea O'Brien and Kylie Buchanan scoring the other two. Jessica St. George (Dracut, MA), opened up the game giving the Falcons the lead 1-0. Then Autumn Tibbetts (Lunenburg, MA) also found the back of the net for Fitchburg, which regained the lead 2-1 with 8:25 left in the first quarter. This, however, would be the last time the Falcons would see the lead.
- The second quarter saw Westfield put up four more goals to Fitchburg's two, getting a halftime score of 9-4. DeMaio and Buchanan would tally one more goal each in the quarter for the Owls. Samantha Azzari (Haverhill, MA) found the net for her first goal, with St. George adding on her second of the game.
- The third was the lowest-scoring quarter, with Westfield outscoring the Falcons 3-1. Tibbetts did start the half with her second goal of the game. The Owls would then score three unanswered goals before the conclusion of the quarter. DeMaio scored her fifth goal of the game in the third, along with Emma Prattson and Samantha Dyer each scoring once.
- The final quarter saw Westfield net seven goals, while the Falcons scored two, resulting in a 19-7 final. St. George scored her third goal of the game alongside teammate Hannah Azzari (Haverhill, MA), who scored her first goal in the fourth. DeMaio and Buchanan both led the way in the fourth quarter for the Owls. DeMaio scored her sixth and seventh goals of the game, with Buchanan scoring her third.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Izzy Conley got the win (3-0) after making five saves and allowing four goals.
- Elizabeth Smith (Plymouth, MA) suffered the loss after giving up 19 goals and making 12 saves.
