Women’s Soccer Falls to Bridgewater State in Shootout During MASCAC Quarterfinals

BRIDGEWATER, MA: The Fitchburg State women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking loss tonight in the MASCAC Quarterfinals to #3 Bridgewater State after forcing a shootout.  

BRIDGEWATER, MA: The Fitchburg State women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking loss tonight in the MASCAC Quarterfinals to #3 Bridgewater State after forcing a shootout.  

THE BASICS:

- Score: Bridgewater 0, Fitchburg 0. Shootout: Bridgewater 5, Fitchburg 4

- Records: Bridgewater (5-7-5), Fitchburg (3-12-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The two keepers for both teams, along with the defense, kept both teams from scoring a goal in regulation and two overtime periods. In 110 minutes, neither team could break the 0-0 game.  

- During the postseason, shootouts are in effect, and that is what came next. Each team made the first four PKs. The Falcons' fifth attempt would be saved by Logan Levesque, the Bears' keeper, giving them the chance to win it if they were to make the next attempt. Kacey Parker then stepped up for Bridgewater and delivered, sealing the Quarterfinal victory.  

Mia Herron (Mendon, MA) had an eight-save night in net for the Falcons, bringing the game to a 0-0 tie, putting her at 1-7-2 at the conclusion of the season. Levesque only saw four shots on goal, making two saves. After the tie, she is looking at a 5-6-5 record as they head into the Semifinal round.
