Women's Basketball Topped By Lancers In Conference Action
Harlow finished with team best 12 points for Green & Gold
Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University Women's Basketball team dropped an 88-59 decision to the Lancers of Worcester State this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Parkinson Gymnasium.

How It Happened
1st quarter
Worcester State opened the contest on a 6-0 run on three-pointers from sophomore Lena Waldron (Quincy, MA) and senior Katie Hurynowicz (Tyngsboro, MA) before Fitchburg State countered with a layup from senior Rylie Harlow (Hanson, MA).
The Lancers pushed the lead to 19-6 as freshman Ella Tetreault (Norton, MA) hit a bucket but the Falcons trimmed the deficit to 19-10 with baskets by junior Kaelynn Tanner (Lowell, MA) and senior Stephanie Hart (Sterling, MA).
2nd quarter
The visitors upped the advantage to 26-14 on a three-ball from sophomore Ava Lemanski (Clinton, MA), but the Green and Gold countered (26-16) as Harlow netted a layup.
Worcester State extended the margin to 39-23 with senior Abby St. Martin (Tyngsboro, MA) and sophomore Mia Haynes (Worcester, MA) hitting buckets before Fitchburg State reduced the lead to 39-25 going into the break when senior Kathryn Hart (Sterling, MA) netted a layup.
3rd quarter
Following the intermission, Worcester State pushed the lead to 58-25 as sophomore Hannah Lompmacp (Northbridge, MA) netted a bucket, but Fitchburg State answered back with senior Caileen Hurley (Whitman, MA) registering a layup.
The Lancers upped the margin to 62-30 with Hurynowicz notching a layup before the Falcons answered back on a Steph Hart bucket to make the score 63-34.
4th quarter
The Green and trimmed the lead to 65-39 as Tanner buried a three-pointer and Harlow collected a layup before the visitor extended the margin to 68-39 on a bucket and free-throw from sophomore Alana Smith (Chicopee, MA).
The hosts cut the lead to 72-48 on baskets by freshmen Ashley Hart (Sterling, MA) and Malaica Guillaume (Everett, MA) before Worcester State secured the victory on a jumper by Lemanski, resulting in the 88-59 final.
