Women's Basketball Upended By Owls In MASCAC Bout
Harlow finished with team best 24 points for Green & Gold
Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University Women's Basketball team dropped a 117-60 decision to the Owls of Westfield State yesterday evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Woodward Center.

How It Happened
1st quarter
Westfield State grabbed a 7-0 advantage on a pair of buckets from senior Jordan Grant (Gray, ME) and a three ball by freshman Caroline Galvani (Framingham, MA) before the Falcons answered with a layup from senior Rylie Harlow (Hanson, MA).
The Owls pushed the lead to 35-14 with Grant converting a layup and free-throw, but the Falcons trimmed the deficit to 35-20 when senior Stephanie Hart (Shirley, MA) and Harlow netted baskets.
2nd quarter
The Green and Gold reduced the margin to 42-29 as Harlow, freshman Emma Adisa (Houston, TX) and seniors Kathryn Hart (Shirley, MA) and Caileen Hurley (Whitman, MA) registered baskets, but the visitors upped the lead to 44-29 with senior Maddie Pond (Holyoke, MA) hitting a layup.
Westfield State extended the margin to 57-34 on a layup by freshman Alexa Davis (Springfield, MA) before Fitchburg State responded as Harlow notched a layup to make the score 57-36 going into the break.
3rd quarter
Following the intermission, Westfield State upped the advantage to 70-38 on a Grant jumper before Fitchburg State answered back with junior Alexis DeSimone (Ashburnham, MA) connecting on a layup (70-40).
The Owls pushed the margin to 80-44 when Davis notched a layup, but the Green and Gold cut into the lead (80-46) on a bucket from junior Kaelynn Tanner (Lowell, MA).
4th quarter
The hosts made the score 99-49 on a Morgan Berthaume (Webster, MA) layup, but the Falcons responded again as newcomer Ashley Hart (Shirley, MA) netted a basket.
Fitchburg State cut the deficit to 105-56 on a three-pointer from DeSimone and a Harlow layup before Westfield State secured the victory as Grant hit a layup, resulting in the 117-60 final.

- Falcons were led by Harlow with a team-best 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists and one steal
- DeSimone added seven points, four caroms and one steal
- For the Owls, Grant finished with a game-leading 36 points, ten boards, one assist and four steal
