How It Happened

Following a scoreless first half, Worcester State nearly opening the scoring at the 44:01 mark as freshman Alivia Grono (Wilbraham, MA) put on a shot on frame, but Fitchburg State defender Keirsten Anderson (Fall River, MA) cleared the ball off the goal line for a defensive save to keep the contest deadlocked 0-0 going into the fourth quarter of play

Fitchburg State broke the 0-0 stalemate with 25 seconds remaining in regulation as sophomore Kendall O'Brien (Townsend, MA) slid a pass to classmate Ashley Willey (Halfmoon, NY), who deposited a shot inside the lower left corner for her first collegiate goal, resulting in the 1-0 final.
