Tibbets notches lone tally for Green and Gold
Worcester, MA. – The Fitchburg State field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to the Lancers of Worcester State in a shootout in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon from Coughlin Field.

How It Happened
Following a scoreless first half of play, Fitchburg State opened the scoring at the 39:35 mark of the third quarter when senior Autumn Tibbetts (Lunenburg, MA) settled a feed from freshman Samantha Jones (Uxbridge, MA) and buried a shot inside the near post for her seventh tally on the year for the 1-0 edge.
Worcester State knotted the score at 1-1 in the 60th minute of action as junior Maggie Nailor (Dartmouth, MA) received a pass from senior Madison Avilla (Westport, MA) and found the back of the cage for her third goal of the 2024 campaign to send the game into overtime.
Following the intermission, the Green and Gold pushed the lead to 3-0 at the 38:06 mark of the third quarter with Tibbetts gathering a pass from Morse and putting a shot into the back of the cage for her fifth score of the season.
Following a scoreless overtime, Worcester State secured the victory in a shootout (2-1), resulting in the 2-1 final.
