Field Hockey Soars Past Rams In MASCAC Action
Cavanagh nets first collegiate hat trick Green & Gold
Fitchburg, MA. – The Fitchburg State field hockey team defeated the Rams of Framingham State University, 8-1 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this evening from Elliot Field.

How It Happened
Fitchburg State opened the scoring at the 17:01 as sophomore Kendall O'Brien (Townsend, MA) fired a shot into the left side of the cage for her fourth tally on the season for the 1-0 edge. The Falcons doubled the lead two minutes later when sophomore Leah Cavanagh (Leominster, MA) settled a feed from senior Samantha Yates (Woodstock, VT) and deposited a shot inside the far post for her second marker on the season for the 2-0 advantage.
Framingham State cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 23rd minutes of action with freshman Chloe Moynihan (Holyoke, MA) found the back of the cage for her fourth score on the 2025-26 campaign. The Green and Gold pushed the lead to 3-1 with two minutes remaining in regulation as Cavanagh collected a pass from O'Brien and tucked a shot into the lower left corner for her second tally of the contest. Fitchburg State upped the margin one minute later with O'Brien fired a shot into the back of the cage to make the score 4-1 going into the break.
Following the break, Fitchburg State extended the margin at the 47:18 when Cavanagh completed the hat trick for her third score of the contest for 5-1 lead. The Green and Gold secured the victory, closing out the contest with a pair of scores by Yates and one off the stick of sophomore Madison Butler (Carver, MA), resulting in the 8-1 final.
