Women's Indoor Track Finishes Sixth Overall At YSC Invitational

Hampden, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women’s indoor track & field team placed sixth overall at the 2025 Yankee Small College Invitational with a total of 34 points today at the Tennis & Track Center at Smith College.

How It Happened

Junior Skye Goba (Norton, MA) led the way for the Falcons with a second place finish in the mile with a MASCAC qualifying time of 5:47.23, while freshman Arieyana Robinson (Worcester, MA) turned in a fifth place, MASCAC qualifying time of 8.59 seconds in the 60 meter dash

Junior Trishannah Scott (Leominster, MA) was also solid for the Green and Gold, posting a third place, MASCAC qualifying effort in the triple jump with a mark of 9.25 meters as well as finishing third in the 600 meter with a post-season qualifying time of 1:52.41.

In the 60 meter hurdles, junior Aria DiCato (Fitchburg, MA) placed seventh overall with a MASCAC qualifying time of 10.78 seconds, while in the 60 meter, freshman Maribelis Alcantara (Salem, MA) (9.04) and junior Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA) (9.07) finished 13th and 14th.

In the 400 meter, Robinson (ninth) and Velez (tenth) posted times of 1:14.32 and 1:14.92, while in the 600 meter, DiCato finished sixth overall with a MASCAC qualifying time of 1:56.95.The 4x200 meter relay team of freshman Christina Apolon (Brooklyn, NY), Robinson, Scott and Velez took top honors with a time of 1:56.55, while

In the field, freshman Sophia Salamone (Falmouth, ME) (sixth), junior Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) (12th) and freshman Sophia Hepler (Orono, ME) (15th) qualified for the MASCAC's with tosses of 11.28M, 9.50M and 9.18M, while in the shot put, Hepler (9.43M) (MASCAC qualifier) and Israelson (8.39M) (MASCAC qualifier) finished seventh and 12th overall in the event..

Rounding out the top Falcons efforts on the day were Velez (4.10M) and Alcantara (3.60M) who placed 11th and 15th in the long jump, while in the 200 meter, DiCato placed seventh overall with a MASCAC qualifying time of 30.57 seconds.
