Women's Lacrosse Clipped By Roos At Spring Fling Tournament
Ponder paces Green & Gold with six goals
Panama City, FL. – The Fitchburg State Women's Lacrosse team dropped a 13-11 decision to the Roos of SUNY Canton yesterday afternoon in non-conference action at the 2025 Spring Fling Tournament at Publix Park.

How It Happened
Fitchburg State jumped out to a 5-2 advantage in the first quarter as senior Delaney Ponder (East Bridgewater, MA) tallied a pair of markers, while senior Alexis Raymond (Tewksbury, MA), classmate Abaigeal Doheny (Lunenburg, MA) and sophomore Samantha Azzari (Haverhill, MA) added one score each.
In the second quarter of play, the Falcons pushed the lead to 6-2 with Ponder finding the net for her third score of the contest before SUNY Canton answered back when senior Lindsey Wunder (Walwoth, NY) found the back of the net to make the score 6-3 going into the break.
Following the intermission, Fitchburg State extended the margin to 8-4 as Ponder connected on a pair of goals, but the Roos cut the deficit to 8-7 with freshman Olivia McCormick Oreland, PA), Wunder and junior Caroline Nappi (Syracuse, NY) registering markers.
In the final period of play, the two teams traded goals to start the stanza with Ponder and junior Jessica St. George (Dracut, MA) scoring for the Falcons, while senior Maddy Caron (Marcellus, NY) had both tallies for SUNY Canton (10-9).
The Roos rallied to take a 13-10 edge as Caron notched another two markers, while Wunder and newcomer Ava Dupee (Dexter, NY) added on score each. The Green and Gold capped the scoring late in the fourth quarter when senior Breanna White (Peabody, MA) netted the final goal of the contest, resulting in the 13-11 final.
