Tibbetts and St. George Net Six Apiece in Victory Over Mass Maritime
BUZZARD BAY, MA: The Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team bested the Buccaneers of Mass Maritime in MASCAC action this evening by a score of 18-10.
THE BASICS:

- Score: Fitchburg 18, Mass Maritime 10
- Records: Fitchburg (2-9, 1-1 MASCAC), Mass Maritime (2-7, 0-2 MASCAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Falcons started the game by outscoring the Buc's 3-1 through the first quarter. Jessica St. George (Dracut, MA) got the ball rolling by scoring her first and the game's first goal with 8:36 left. Autumn Tibbetts (Lunenburg, MA) and Hannah Azzari (Haverhill, MA) would score the next two, giving the Falcons a 3-0 lead. Caleigh Tompkin would stop Fitchburg's run with the Maritimes' first goal with 12 seconds left in the first.
- Mass Maritime would close the gap in the second by outscoring the Falcons 4-3, making it a 6-5 game going into the break. Lindsy Durgin would start the second off for the Buc's, making it 3-2. St. George would then raddle off two straight goals to put the Falcons back up 5-2 with 11:34 left in the half. Durgin would net another two goals in the second, along with Allie Dickinson, to total the five goals in the half. Tibbetts would also score a second goal in the quarter.
- The second half saw the Falcons extend their lead quickly into the third quarter by outscoring Maritime 5-3 in the third and 7-2 in the fourth. The third started with another St. George goal, her fourth of the game. Tibbetts would find the back of the net another three times in the third quarter alone, putting her at five for the game. Delaney Ponder (E. Bridgewater, MA) scored her first goal of the game as well.
- The fourth saw St. George score two more goals to get to six on the night, with Tibbetts scoring another tallying six. Ponder would add on another with Kiley McFadden (Tewksbury, MA) and Jeannine Preston (Plymouth, MA), adding goals of their own.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Dakin Kovatch (White River Junction, VT) earned her second win of the season after making seven saves.
- Christiane Rech suffered the loss (2-7) after allowing the 18 goals on ten saves.
