Women's Lacrosse Upended By Panthers In Non-Conference Action
St. George paces Green & Gold with one marker, two ground balls and three draw controls
Plymouth, NH. – The Fitchburg State Women's Lacrosse team suffered a tough 22-5 setback to the Panthers of Plymouth State this afternoon in non-conference action from Panther Field.

How It Happened
Plymouth State jumped out to a 12-0 advantage in the first quarter as junior Morgan Cunningham (Wrentham, MA) registered four goals, while sophomore Sammy Murphy (Harrisville, RI) added a pair of markers.
In the second quarter of play, Fitchburg State cut the deficit to 13-1 with senior Breanna White (Peabody, MA) connected on a goal before the Panthers pushed the lead to 16-1 going in the break as Cunningham, freshman Claire Joyce (Braintree, MA), senior Julia Donovan (Contoocook, NH) and senior Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, NH) found the back of the net.
Following the intermission, the Falcons answered when senior Delaney Ponder (East Bridgewater, MA) notched a score to make the score 16-2, but Plymouth State extended the margin to 19-2 with senior Maddie Hunt (Littleton, MA) netting a pair of scores.
In the final period of play, the Panthers upped the margin to 22-2 as Donovan and Hunt found the back of the net before Fitchburg State closed out the scoring as sophomore Samantha Azzari (Haverhill, MA), classmate Hannah Azzari (Haverhill, MA) and junior Jessica St. George (Dracut, MA) netted goals, resulting in the 22-5 final.
