Women’s Lacrosse Picked Seventh In Pre-Season Poll
Falcons notch 16 points in 2023 MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Coaches Poll
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team was recently picked seventh overall in the 2023 MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Pre-Season Poll with a total of 16 points as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
The Owls of Westfield State University were selected to win the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse championship in a vote of the league's coaches. After collecting a total of 47 points, including five of the eight first place ballots.
Framingham State followed in second with a total of 45 points, including the remaining three place votes. Bridgewater State landed in the third spot with 34 points, while Worcester State tied the Bears for third with 34 points.
Sitting in fifth was Mass. Maritime with a total of 24 points, while Salem State was picked sixth with 17 points. The Falcons of Fitchburg State were slotted in the seventh position with 16 points, while MCLA rounded out the 2023 MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Pre-Season Poll in eighth with seven points.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in the sport of football for the 2013-14 academic year.
