How It Happened

Trailing 1-0 Fitchburg State added goals from newcomer Jessica St. George (Dracut, Mass.) and Delaney Ponder (East Bridgewater, Mass.) to take a 2-1 advantage. The Lyons scored the equalizer with a goal from Hannah Bisson before the Falcons reeled off three straight with two goals from Cali Laakso (Fitchburg, Mass.) and the second of the night from St. George.

Ahead 6-4 the Green and Gold added a man-down goal from Nichole Orlowski (Ellington, Conn.) to extend the advantage to 7-4. Mount Holyoke responded with three unanswered goals to knot the game at 7-all.

The Falcons regained the lead with a tally from St. George, however, the Lyons potted a pair to go ahead 9-8 at the 9:41 mark of the third quarter.

The visitors battled back with a man-up score from Abaigeal Gilman (Clinton, Mass.) and back-to-back goals from senior Eva Kozikowski (Portsmouth, NH) and St. George to take a 11-9 lead.

Once again, the Lyons tied the game with a pair of goals from Emi Bissom with seven minutes to play in regulation. Fitchburg State notched the game-winner when Kozikowski tipped the twine off a pass from Alexis Raymond (Tewksbury, Mass.).
