HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  In a game where 36 goals were scored, neither team could establish a significant lead other than in the opening quarter and fourth quarter. After the Falcons opened up the scoring in the first on a Delany Ponder (E. Bridgewater, MA) goal, the Mariners quickly put up four in a row to go up 4-1. Fitchburg would rattle off three straight goals of their own to tie the game up at four. No lead was safe throughout the contest as both teams traded goals until the 11:02 mark in the fourth quarter. Maritime would net their 15th goal of the game to go up 15-14, followed by five more. The six-goal run would end when Ponder capitalized on a free-position shot. The Falcons would close out the scoring on an Autumn Tibbetts (Lunenburg, MA) goal assisted by Abaigeal Doheny (Lunenburg, MA), getting the final of 20-16.

Maritime was paced by Lillian Diversi, who had a game-high six goals and one assist. Rebecca Caron was just behind her with five goals and two assists. Hazel Stoddard also had a solid performance with four goals and two assists.

The Falcons offense was split between Nicole Orlowski (Ellington, CT) and Jessica St. George (Dracut, MA). Both top the team in goals this season, closing in on 30 each. In this one, they both set five goals. Ponder was the only other to score multiple goals, as she tallied three.
