Women's Lacrosse Flies Past Gordon
FITCHBURG, MA: Fitchburg State women's lacrosse took down the Fighting Scots of Gordon College this evening in non-conference action.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first half started with two quick goals by the Scots. The Falcons responded with two of their own from Noel Kennedy (Walpole, MA) and Delany Ponder (E. Bridgewater, MA). After a third goal from Gordon by Rachel Mincone, the Falcons would go on a seven-goal run. They rattled off three to end the first quarter up 5-3. Abaigeal Doheny (Lunenburg, MA) would start the run, with Jessica St. George (Dracut, MA) scoring the last two in the first. The second quarter continued the Fitchburg run with another four coming before Gordon would again find the back of the net, making it a 9-4 game. Kaitlyn Mini would end the half by scoring two for the Fighting Scots, putting them back within three (9-6) at the break.
- The Falcons struck first in the second half on an impressive goal by Alexis Raymond (Tewksbury, MA). Fitchburg would add on with Doheny, Raymond, Nicole Orlowski (Ellington, CT), and Kiley McFadden (Tewksbury, MA) all getting their second goals of the game, making it 13-6 deep into the third quarter. Orlowski would give herself a game-high three goals to close out the third, with the Falcons leading 14-6. The fourth would get underway, with Ponder netting her third, followed by Orlowski finding her fourth. Gordon would score their first goal of the half with 8:03 left on a free position shot by Caroline Piorkowski. The Fighting Scots would show some life at the end with a pair of goals by Becca Rhoda and Piorkowski bringing it to the final of 17-9.
- The Falcons were led by Orlowski, who finished with four goals and two assists. Ponder was just behind her with three goals and one assist. Doheny, George, and Raymond all finished with two goals.
- Piorkowski topped the Scots with three goals. Mini was the only other to score multiple goals with two.

- Caitlin Persson (Worcester, MA) (W, 5-5) made 8 saves on 17 shots faced.
- Kayla Davidson (L, 2-10) made 16 saves on 33 shots faced.
