Women's Lacrosse Tops Salem State
SALEM, MA: Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team took down the Vikings of Salem State this evening in MASCAC action.
THE BASICS:

- Score: Fitchburg 15, Salem 8
- Records: Fitchburg (7-9, 1-4 MASCAC), Salem (2-12, 0-6 MASCAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Falcons jumped out quickly to an 8-1 lead through the first quarter. Nicole Orlowski (Ellington, CT) had one of her most productive quarters of the season with four goals. Jessica St. George (Dracut, MA) added another two in the first. St. George would add another two goals to her stat line in the second quarter, where Fitchburg would again outscore the Vikings 4-1. Delaney Ponder (E. Bridgewater, MA) would net her first goal of the game, helping the Falcons secure a 12-2 score going into the break.
Ponder started the second half with her second goal of the game. The Vikings broke the Falcon run and rattled off five straight of their own. Salem closed out the third with a goal from Jenna Wells and Laura Young. The next three would come at the start of the fourth quarter. Aislinn Bennett would find the back of the net twice for Salem in the fourth. Hannah Azzari (Haverhill, MA) and Orlowski would stop the Viking comeback short as they added one goal each to bring the game to a close at 15-8.
- Caitlin Persson (Worcester, MA) got the win (6-7) after making 17 saves on 25 shots faced. Nora Bradley would suffer the loss (2-12) after making five saves on 20 shots faced.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Orlowski topped all with 5 goals and 6 draw controls.
- St. George had 4 goals and 2 ground balls.
- Ponder netted 3 goals and had 3 draw controls.
- Wells had 3 goals and 1 assist for the Vikings.
