Falcons Open 2024 Campaign At Corsair Invite
Camara qualifies for DIII New England's in the high jump and 100 meter hurdles to pace Falcons
North Dartmouth, MA – The Fitchburg State University women's outdoor track & field placed ninth at the 2024 Corsair Invitational, hosted by UMass Dartmouth with a total of 33 points today.

How It Happened
Senior Makany Camara (Lowell, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, finishing first overall in the high jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 1.62 meters as well as taking top honors in the 100 meter hurdles with a DIII NE qualifying time of 15.58 seconds as well posting a tenth place time of 13.38 seconds in the 100 meter, while sophomore Trishannah Scott (Leominster, MA) placed fourth overall in the triple jump with a mark of 10.22 meters.
Junior Julia Arena (Shrewsbury, MA) placed 32nd in the 1500 meter (6:31.71) and 22nd in the 800 meter (3:09.09), while Scott (14.61) and senior Olivia Kephart (Rutland, MA) (18.96) finished 20th and 27th in the 100 meter. The 4x100 meter relay team of Camara, Scott, sophomore Aria DiCato (Fitchburg, MA) and sophomore Shamya Boulware McKnight (Hartford, CT) turned in a fourth place time of 54.69 seconds, while DiCato (7th) and freshman Alexis Toste (Dracut, MA) (10th) registered times of 1:16.36 and 1:22.90 in the 400 meter hurdles.
In the field, sophomore Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) (15th), Kephart (22nd) and freshman Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) (29th) notched tosses of 28.87M, 25.37M and 21.99M in the hammer throw, while in the shotput, Crout (9.29M), Kephart (8.14M) and Israelson (8.04M) placed 12th, 23rd and 25th.
In the discus, Crout (11th) and Israelson (17th) notched throws of 27.08M and 22.40M, while Isrealson finished 23rd overall in the javelin with a toss of 20.00 meters. Boulware McKnight added a 13th place effort in the long jump with a mark of 4.28 meters, McKnight (29:61) and Scott (30.30) finished 21st and 27th respectively in the 200 meter to round out the top Falcons efforts on the day.
