How It Happened

Roger Williams grabbed a 1-0 edge at the 3:07 mark as senior Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) collected a loose rebound and deposited a shot into the lower right corner for her team-leading seventh marker on the season.

Fitchburg State nearly knotted the score in the ninth minute of action with junior Maddie Hippert (Worcester, Mass.) firing a shot on frame, but Roger Williams keeper Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) turned the shot aside.

The Hawks doubled the lead (2-0) at the 16:14 mark as newcomer Sofie Morris (Bristol, R.I.) connected on her sixth tally of the 2022 season. Roger Williams upped the lead to 4-0 midway through the first half when sophomore Grace Kelly (Milford, N.H.) found the back of the net for her second goal on the year.

Following the break, Fitchburg State cut the deficit to 4-1 in the 49th minute of action with senior Patricia Pallotta (Sterling, Mass.) receiving a feed from freshman Adrianna Westcott (Sayreville, N.J.) and tucked a shot inside the lower right corner for her fourth score of the season.

Roger Williams pushed the lead to 5-0 at the 58:30 mark as senior Leah Yucius (Duxbury, Mass.) notched her fourth marker on the year before the Green and Gold responded 11 minutes later when freshman Charlotte Meixsell (Boxford, Mass.) notched her first collegiate tally of an assist from classmate Regina Pallotta (Sterling, Mass.), resulting in the 6-2 final.
