FITCHBURG, MA: Fitchburg State women's soccer suffered a non-conference loss to Western New England University this morning.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/7/24

- Score: WNEU 4, Fitchburg 0

- Records: WNEU (2-0-2), Fitchburg (0-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Golden Bears struck early and often in the first half, netting three goals on the Falcons. Brynn Murphy started it up in the 15th minute with her first goal of the season. The second would come off the foot of Emma French in the 38th minute. This would also be her first goal of the season. The final goal in the first half came in the 41st minute by Gabby Sansone, who already had an assist on French's goal.

- Western New England added one more in the 53rd minute of the second half to get the day's final score. Murphy scored her second of the game on an unassisted goal.

- Molly McLaughlin would get the win (W, 2-0-2) after not seeing a single shot in the first. Brianna Carroll would come in for the second half and save all four shots she faced. Madison Dawkins (Haverhill, MA) suffered the loss (L, 0-3) after she made eight saves of the 12 shots on goal.
