Westcott nets equalizer in the 90th minute

Bristol, RI. – The Fitchburg State women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with the Hawks of Roger Williams University this afternoon in non-conference action from Bayside Field.

The Basics

Score: Fitchburg State 1, Roger Williams 1

Records: Fitchburg State (1-6-3, 1-0-1 MASCAC) | Roger Williams (6-2-3, 0-0-2 CNE)

How It Happened

Roger Williams threatened early in the contest as sophomore Casey Donnelly (Norwalk, CT) put a shot on target, but Falcons keeper Madison Dawkins (Haverhill, MA) was able to deny the scoring opportunity to preserve the 0-0 stalemate.

Fitchburg State's best scoring chance of the opening frame occurred midway through the stanza with junior Adrianna Westcott (Sayreville, NJ) firing a shot on frame, only to have Hawks goaltender Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, CT) make the save to keep the contest scoreless going into the break.

Following the intermission, the Hawks took the lead in the 70th minute of action when sophomore Sarah Fogarty (Scituate, MA) received a feed from freshman Kaitlyn Alagno (Oxford, CT) and found the back of the net for her first score of the season for the 1-0 advantage.

The Falcons leveled the score at 1-1 with just 49 seconds remaining in the contest as Westcott gathered a pass from newcomer Kelsey Fournier (Upton, MA) and buried a shot inside the far post for her second tally of the 2024 campaign, resulting in the 1-1 draw.
