Bridgewater, MA – The Fitchburg State women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to the top seeded Bears of Bridgewater State this evening in semifinal round action of the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Post-Season Tournament from Mazzaferro Field.

How It Happene

Bridgewater State opened the scoring at the 29:11 mark as senior Sydney Sousa (Dartmouth, MA) collected a feed from junior Olivia Roberge (Pepperell, MA) and deposited a shot into the back of the net for her first tally of the season for the 1-0 edge.

The Bears doubled the lead forty seconds later when sophomore Natalie Mattos (Fairhaven, MA) fired a shot into the left side of the net for her third goal of the 2024 campaign to make the score 2-0 going into the break.

Following the intermission, Bridgewater State upped th3 lead to 3-0 in the 54rd minute of action with Roberge settling at feed from graduate student Emily McCormack (E. Bridgewater, MA) and finding the back of the net for 12th marker of the year for the 3-0 advantage.

Fitchburg State answered at the 84:17 mark with junior Adrianna Westcott (Sayreville, NJ) receiving a feed from classmate Charlotte Meixsell (Boxford, MA) and finding the back of the net for her team leading sixth tally of the season, resulting in the 3-1 final.
