Softball Drops Pair Of Non-Conference Contests On Day Two
Mueller and Marshall pace Green & Gold
Melbourne, FL. – The Fitchburg State University softball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests on day two action of the 2025 Space Coast Spring Games as the Falcons dropped a 10-3 decision to Thunder of Wheaton (IL) College in the opener before falling 8-5 to the Amcats of Anna Maria in the nightcap.

How It Happened
Game One
Wheaton took a 3-0 advantage in the top of the first as freshman Soleil Weaver (Whitmore Lake, MI) singled to center field to bring in senior Olivia Nahorniak (Bristol, WI) before newcomer Cate Welch (North Branch, MI) and sophomore Abby Whitehead (Flower Mound, TX) added RBI's in the frame.
Fitchburg State knotted the contest at 3-3 in the bottom half the first when sophomore Jessica Mueller (Fitchburg, MA) singled to short to plate freshman Carolyn Brodeur (Ashby, MA), while senior Isabella Sousa (Charlton, MA) followed with an RBI groundout that scored newcomer Paige Konopka (Middlefield, CT) before Mueller crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
The Thunder regained the lead in the top of the fourth with Nahorniak was hit by a pitch, moved to second and third on a sacrifice bunt and a groundout before Whitehead tripled to left field, scoring Nahorniak to make the score 4-3.
Wheaton secured the victory in the top of the sixth when senior Abie Brown (Boerne, TX) brought home Welch and junior Abigail Latka (Sugar Grove, IL) crossed the plate on a throwing miscue, resulting in the 10-3 final.

Anna Maria opened the scoring in the bottom of the second as sophomore Kiki Hicks (Stansbury Park, UT) singled through the left side, move to second and third and on a wild pitch and groundout before sophomore Madisyn Crossman (North Bennington, VT) brought in Hicks with an RBI ground out for the 1-0 edge.
Fitchburg State answered back in the top of the top of fourth with Brodeur reaching on a hit by pitch and Konopka and newcomer Priscilla Dillon (Glennville, GA) singling to load bases, while Mueller junior Adria McKenzie (Lowell, MA) reaching on and RBI fielders' choices before senior Ella Marshall (Gloucester, MA) laced a two-run single to left field for the 4-1 advantage.
The Falcons pushed the lead to 5-1 in the following frame with Mueller doubling down the left field line and freshman Ariana Baez (Methuen, MA) lacing an RBI double to left field to drive in Mueller. The Amcats grabbed the lead back in the bottom of the sixth as junior Madison Levesque (Feedinf Hills, MA) ripped a two-run double to left center, while sophomore Ella Moon (York, ME), classmate Emeilia Carvalho (Hudson, MA) and freshman Makenna Lovelette (Enosburg, VT) added RBI's for Anna Maria, resulting in the 8-5 final.
