Billerica, Mass. native receives first weekly accolade of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman Outside Hitter Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, Mass.) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The first-year Falcon earns her first weekly honor after finishing the week with 25 kills, four service aces, 37 digs, three assists and one solo block in a 1-2 week for the Falcons. Sardella notched five kills, one service ace and seven digs in a setback to Fisher College on Wednesday before adding six kills, two assists, one service ace, 13 digs and a solo block in a loss to Nichols on Saturday.

Stephanie concluded the week for the Green and Gold with a team-leading 14 kills, two service aces and 17 digs in a 3-2, five set triumph over the Colonels of Curry College on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State women's volleyball team (2-2, 0-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as it travels to Bridgewater State to take on the Bears in MASCAC action, starting at 6:00 PM.
