Lasers Stun Falcons in Three Sets
Newton, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's volleyball team fell to the Lasers of Lasell College 3-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at the Lasell Athletic Center.

How It Happened
- The first set opened with the Falcons with the 2-1 edge after a service error by the Lasers. Lasell extended to a 12-5 with Hope McFall at the serve. The Falcons surged to 12-8 with three-straight points however the hosts were too much set reeling off eleven straight points to close out the set.
- Trailing 12-0 in the second set, the Falcons cut the
deficit to 17-7 with kills from Samantha Dyer
(Raynham, Mass.), Samantha
Mirra (Burlington, Mass.), and an ace from
Shianne
Harewood (Sterling, Mass.). McFall led Lasell down
the stretch and closed out set three with a pair of aces.
- The third set opened with back-and-forth action until an 8-0 unanswered run to forge ahead 17-7. The Falcons rallied back with a pair of kills from first-year Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, Mass.) to make it a 22-11 game. Lasell closed out the set and match on a Falcons' defensive miscue.

- Emily Gelinas (Westfield, Mass.) had a team-high seven assists and three digs.
