Sardella Named MASCAC Rookie Of The Week

Billerica, Mass. native picks up fourth weekly accolade of the year

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman outside hitter Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, Mass.) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The first-year outside hitter earns her fourth weekly honor of the season after totaling 26 kills, three service aces, 35 digs and one solo block in a 1-1 week for the Green and Gold. Sardella notched seven kills, three service aces, eight digs and on solo block in a setback to Saint Joseph (CT) on Thursday before adding a career-best 19 kills and 27 digs in a 3-2 triumph against Salem State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State women's volleyball team (5-14, 2-5 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as they travel to MCLA to take on the Trailblazers in quarterfinal round action of the 2022 MASCAC Women's Volleyball Post-Season Tournament, starting at 6:00 PM.
