Women's Volleyball Falls Short to Chargers
FITCHBURG, MA: Fitchburg State women's volleyball fell to Colby-Sawyer College this evening in non-conference action.
THE BASICS:

- Score: Colby-Sawyer 3, Fitchburg 1. Set scores: 16-25, 25-15, 16-25, 19-25
- Records: Colby-Sawyer (5-2), Fitchburg (0-3)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After dropping the first set, the Falcons would rally back with a clean second to tie the match up at 1-1. Colby-Sawyer had the highest number of errors in that set, with 12 compared to Fitchburg's three. The Chargers would sort out the offensive play and take the following two sets to win the match.
- Leading the way for Colby-Sawyer was Ally Majenski, who had a match-high of 13 kills on 34 total attempts. Helping the hitters out was setter Brooke Patnode, who racked up 38 assists on the night. Holding down the defense was Audra Fontes in the libero position. She also finished with a match-high of 23 digs.
- Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, MA) and Samantha Mirra (Burlington, MA) had the best offensive day for the Falcons, with both finishing with five kills. On Sardella's second kill, she broke the Falcons all-time kill record of 410. She also played a pivotal role in the team's defensive efforts with ten digs, just three behind libero Jessica Greco (Southington, CT), who had 13. Mia Vestal (Wilmington, MA) was the primary setter in this one, tallying 11 assists.
