Falcons Picked Fourth In MASCAC WXC Pre-Season Poll

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women’s cross country team was recently selected fourth with a total of 22 points in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASACAC) Pre-Season Coaches Poll as voted by the league coaches.

Fitchburg State collect 22 points to earn the fourth spot in 2022 preseason poll 

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's cross country team was recently selected fourth with a total of 22 points in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASACAC) Pre-Season Coaches Poll as voted by the league coaches.

Westfield State was selected to capture the 2022 Women's Cross MASCAC Championship this season after claiming six of the seven first place ballots to amass 36 points in this year's poll, while Bridgewater State collected 27 points to land in second place, which included the final first place ballot. Worcester State followed in third with a total of 26 points, while Fitchburg State was picked fourth, collecting 22 points.

Sitting in fifth place was Framingham State with a total of 17 points, while Mass. Maritime and MCLA closed out this year's MASCAC women's cross country poll in sixth and seventh with 12 points and seven points respectively.     

The Fitchburg State women's cross country team opens its 2022 season on Saturday, September, 3rd as they host its annual Jim Sheehan Alumni Invitational Meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Doyle Conservation Center in Leominster.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football in 2013-14.
