In the communications media labs, visitors will find a full range of the latest industry equipment such as media/film composers, digital audio workstations, graphic design and game design computer labs, and CD recording and slide scanning equipment.

Fitchburg State University offers a bachelor's degree in game design – the first of its kind in a public institution in the Northeast – preparing students with immediately marketable skills in a fast-growing industry. Members of the Communications Media Department faculty designed the curriculum with input from colleagues in the university's computer science, English studies and art programs.
