Falcon Talks: Cybersecurity-Perspectives in Media, Financial Markets and Innovating Solutions

The Fitchburg State Alumni Association hosts a discussion featuring alumni panelists with an extensive knowledge of cybersecurity from different backgrounds and varying experiences. Dr. Mark Fearer graduated in 1993 and 1999 with two degrees in Computer Science. He currently leads a team of information security auditors at the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission who examines infrastructure of stock exchanges for good practices in efforts to keep them available and secure. Jim Geary, Class of 1978, is a results-driven software entrepreneur with over 25 years as a CEO, Chairman, and Board Member in startup and growth stage companies focused on cybersecurity, enterprise information and data analytics. Geary was an early employee of RSA Security, and in 2017, was named Forbes Magazine #1 Cloud Computing Company CEO. John Honeycutt is a 1991 graduate and an Emmy-Award winning media and information technology expert. Most recently, Honeycutt served as Vice President of Google Cloud’s Media & Entertainment, Telecommunications and Gaming division, where he established and implemented Google Cloud’s initial product and go-to-market strategies for those sectors globally. Currently, Honeycutt advises and consults with media companies, private equity investors and technology developers on their strategies and investments. Honeycutt is also an adjunct professor and guest lecturer at the American University Kogod School of Business and serves as a charter member of their Cybersecurity Executive Advisory Council.
